Wherever you travel you are going to run into beautiful scenery. From gorgeous lakes, to magnificent mountains, to the rolling countryside, we really do live on an amazing planet. We have it all. We also know that part of the reason you love to cycle is being able to enjoy this world around you. It is an intimate experience like none other. So if you want to travel the world, why not take your bike with you? Here are a few international bike trails worth trying.
Before we go on, we want to make a little disclaimer. We have not actually gone on these international bike trails ourselves. We got the ideas for them from National Geographic, so you can definitely trust it! Furthermore, many of these rides boast lengthy distances, some close to 1000 miles. If you are endurance rider, these are definitely for you. If you aren’t, that is okay. You don’t have to do the entire “ride” to get the full experience. Each of these international trails are beautiful the whole way, so you will never miss out.
Land’s End to John O’Groats – Britain
This ride spans from the southwest edge of Great Britain to the northwest end. Overall, the entire trip totals 874 miles. If you do choose to go the whole way, you will end up riding across an entire country. There is probably no better way to experience all of England.
Luchon to Bayonne – France
Ever wanted to ride in the Tour de France? This is your chance. While you won’t actually be able to participate, you can ride along a famous stretch of French countryside on your own. It is a tough 202 mile long stretch, but it might just be worth it.
Ruta Austral – Chile
Patagonia. It is probably a name we all recognize from the popular outdoor gear brand. But on this ride, you will actually get to see the mountains it is named after. With mostly unpaved gravel roads you will travel 810 miles through forests, along mountain ranges and even have to cross rivers on ferry boats.
Munda Biddi Trail – Australia
This one is a no-brainer. Australia is beautiful and on this 206-mile ride you will have a wild experience. You travel through miles of forrest and will have the opportunity to see some famous animals like the wallaby and kangaroos.
These are just a few of the international bike trails recommended. There are many more and there are even amazing trails right here in the US. Check out this link for a few more ideas. Enjoy your rides!
