Each fall, Utah is littered with races and rides that give you the opportunity to hone your skills and be outside. Utah is beautiful. We are so lucky to have mountains, open landscapes, and unique red rock to ride through. Cycling is the perfect way to experience it. Here are some of our favorite races coming up this fall.
LOTOJA
September 10
Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. This nationally famous race puts you through 3 different states while riding over 200 miles. It is nothing short of amazing. You climb over 7,500 feet of elevation as your travel through scenic mountain passes. It is a challenging endurance race, but it will be an experience you will never forget. It may be too late to enter the race now, as registration is usually in April, but keep it in mind for next year!
Utah Tour de Donut
September 17
If you are not able to make it to LOTOJA, the Utah Tour de Donut is a good alternative. It is a much shorter race, 3 laps of a 7 mile loop, coming to a total 21 miles around American Fork and Highland. It was created to be a fun race. Not only do you ride the loop, but if you want to win, you have to eat donuts. In fact, your time is adjusted based on the number of donuts that you eat! It is a low pressure way to get into racing, and if you are already a pro, it is a good way to try something new.
Salt to Saint Relay
September 23-24
This race is customizable. The race spans from Salt Lake City to Saint George which ends up being about 420 miles. If you want to push yourself, you can ride the race solo. Keep in mind that you need a support team and should be prepared to make that trek. But for most people in the race, they choose to ride with a group. You have the option of riding with a group of 4 or 8, depending on how much you want to ride. Doing it in a relay brings in the element of strategy and speed. You can choose how many legs each of you will do and how often you will switch off. It is a fun way to work as a group and build up your cycling legs. We highly recommend it!
Races can be some of the most fun you have cycling. Sadly, that doesn’t mean you are always safe. Here at Utah Bicycle Lawyers, we are here to help you when things go wrong. We have helped many cyclists get back on their feet financially and physically. If you have gotten in an accident, give us a call.
