We may be the Utah Bicycle Lawyers, but our love of cycling stretches across every state. Our home state is not the only place which offers great riding opportunities. We find few things more enjoyable than a trip along a scenic and peaceful bike trail. We know that many of our clients feel the same way. In this post, we list some of the best American bike trails. Take a look and see if any of these rides interest you!
Best American Bike Trails: a Few Favorites

- Great Allegheny Passage Trail and the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Towpath
These two trails form one incredible 335-mile ride from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C. You can look at a map of the route here. There are both paved and unpaved portions of the trail, so you can split them up into smaller rides — or ride them all in one shot!
- Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes
This trail is a lot closer to home for us than the previous one we mentioned. Coeur d’Alene, in northern Idaho, is a beautiful area for riding. The Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes stretches for 72 miles — all of which are paved. This ride is well worth the trip up north.
As far as scenery goes, it is hard to beat this roadway at Glacier National Park. Going-to-the-Sun Road winds through the mountains of the park for about 50 miles. We recommend it to experienced cyclists, as this ride is steep and cyclists must share the twisting road with drivers.
- Shark Valley Tram Road
This is an easy, family-friendly bike trail in Everglades National Park in Florida. The Shark Valley Tram Road is 15 miles long, round-trip, and is flat and paved. It is a great opportunity for cyclists to experience Florida’s climate and environment. You and your family may see deer, turtles, and even alligators on this trail!
